Day 2 and 3 surf around Lisbon and cruising the cosst road

Lisbon Day 2 and 3

The last few days have not been so great as I have had stomach pains and not felt so amazing to say the least. However I tried to carry on as normal. But it has been 1 surf a day which is a bit frustrating to say the least.

Day 2 I went down to the point but felt pretty bad so didn't paddle out. Instead lay in the sun for a bit, before getting some drugs from the pharmacy and heading back to the hostel. Met this random Aussie guy in the room, who had jusy arrived and we headed over the river to Costa Caparica. I had never surfed/ been here before so was keen to check it out. Waves were sizeable- like head high. Bit of a weird paddle out against the rocks to take the rip, then across to the peak. The problem is the current which then tries to drag you back to the rocks. I caught a wave and also got a a nailing so headed in. Had beer with the Aussie by the beach.

Later we got custard tarts, smokes and lots of beer. Probably not what you should be doing when not 100%. Nevertheless went to bed early. I started getting a good night's sleep but was woken by a load of French. This is not the first time that French have woken me up in the hostel. No wonder everyone hates the French.

Day 3 was another day in the car with the aussie. Frustratingly there was a contest on at the point so it was offlimits although waves ,looked sweet. Instead I paddled out to the adjacent reef. This was okay although very setty.. I caught one wave which I had to kick out of coz I dropped in, then another quite good one. But that was it.

After this we headed down towards Estoril. Grabbed some lunch- I had a salad, something healthy at last. Following this we checked the Casino. I wasted 5 euros, the aussie wasted around 40. The slots were over pretty quick. We did a road trip up the coast American tourist style without getting out the car. The coast road from Lisbon up to Cascais is great- I had never been up to Cabo Do Rosa before so was keen to check. We headed back- I ditched the Aussie at the hostel and drove into central Lisbon as I am in a diff hostel tonight. Really nice beds, just shame the wifi has concked out. Despite being tired the clever one in me went on a night out until about 3 and hardly slept.
