A day around Rio

We woke up his morning to a sunset- actually it was my mother who woke me up.  I saw it at 5.45 and went straight back to sleep.

Later got up for breakfast with a view over Rio- not a bad way to start the day.

Headed out to get the boat across the otherside of the Rio bay.  On the Rio side we passed under this urban motorway with another example of fine Brazilian street art,

The man destination was this Brazilian Modernist architecture gallery.  To be honest there is not much to see exhibit wise inside but the view of RIo is not too bad and the architecture is interesting.

Pollution levels were noted as below- nice beach, shame about the sewage and the plastic.

This was followed by a stroll along the waterfornt facing Rio.  Grabbed a coconut water for the first time in Brazil.  It was pretty hot in the sun.

On the way we noted Bin Laden bar- see below.  An absolute marketing classic.  We walked back to get the boat across to Centro.

Centro arrival was folowed by lunch- steak sandwiches and lots of beer- lots of beer in fact.  Afterwards I left my parent's and headed to Ipanema.  Checked the surfing end (below)- did plenty of pull ups along the way.  Went to do some shopping- was hard work in the heat.  Needed a white tshirt and a birthday present for my mother.  Eventually found a taxi to take me back to the hotel.  This was followed by a swim.

Unfortunately dinnner at Amazonia was dissapointing- it did not come in time so we just had the salad and left.  Restaurants around here do seem quite expensive for what they are, with the service often limited.
